I hope you are all having a lovely morning, I know I have been enjoying the crisp morning air! I really love this time of year... spring is in the air, little green things are beginning to sprout, and I just want to go outside and listen to the secret garden while honing the few gardening skills that I have. :) This morning I would like to share what God has been whispering to my heart over the past few weeks.
First off He has really been revealing to me how sad this generation has become. As I watch the people around me I have noticed how most of them simply except what is being said in the media and in the class room. They don't challenge it, test it, and discern what is actually the truth. There is no truth. It's your truth and my truth, nothing is absolute. Honestly this has begun to hurt me when I see how few people seek out the absolute truth (being the Bible as God's inspired word).
Secondly, He has been challenging me with these same issues. Have I stopped challenging much of what is presented to me in the media and in the classroom? For example, music. I know for a fact that at times I listen to music with suggestive, and sometimes inappropriate lyrics. Am I challenging that? Am I recognizing the slow change in myself of excepting these lyrics as normal? As I was doing my personal quiet time this morning I came across this quote from Oswald Chambers:
Beware of the thing of which you say, "Oh, that does not matter much." The fact that it does not matter much to you may mean that it matters a very great deal to God.
Perhaps, in our acceptance of music, tv shows, and classroom lectures we have caused God's heart to break. We have chosen to turn our backs on His truth, on His grace, and on His horrific, but amazing sacrifice on the cross. So what are we going to do about it? How are we going to change?
- Search out God's truth, the absolute truth.
- Become so in love with God, that your heart with break as His breaks.
- Then, step out in love and help others search out truth.
Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:10-12To close out I want to share this "Franciscan Benediction" that my sister recently brought to my attention. I feel that it fits this post perfectly and holds true to the points God has been placing upon my heart:
May God bless us with discomfort
At easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships
So that we may live from deep within our hearts.
May God bless us with anger
At injustice, oppression, and exploitation of God's creations
So that we may work for justice, freedom, and peace.
May God bless us with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger, and war,
So that we may reach out our hands to comfort them and
To turn their pain into joy.
And may God bless us with just enough foolishness
To believe that we can make a difference in the world,
So that we can do what others claim cannot be done:
To bring justice and kindness to all our children and all our neighbors who are poor.
Amen.
Have a wonderful day every one!
God Bless,
Megs
